Phenomena and the Channel Islands: An Island Fox 5E Unit

Standards: Life Science, Integrated Science Presentation Type: Hands On Participants will be introduced to a middle school 5E lesson sequence developed by the National Park Service investigating a local phenomenon involving the island fox, an endemic species only found on the Channel Islands.

About Monique Navarro
Monique Navarro, born in Oxnard, CA, has been an educator and administrator locally and abroad for the past 15 years. She attended UC Davis and UCSB, and has worked at Channel Islands National Park as the Education Coordinator since 2015.

About Sarah Raskin
Sarah Raskin is an instructional science specialist for grades 6th – 8th with Oxnard School District. Previous to that, Sarah has worked in education at the middle and high school levels for over 15 years, in both Oxnard and Santa Cruz, California. Sarah has also participated in the Teacher Ranger Teacher program with Channel Islands National Park in 2014 and 2018.
